CRUMBS ABOVE GOLD
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.– J. R. R. Tolkien

How It Started
At the risk of sounding corny I want to explain what inspired Diana and I (Laura) to start this project together.
We have a strong sense of community among of group of friends.
In that community we live life together and we celebrate together. From the most obscure activities, like the completion of personal book goals, and the more obvious like birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries we never miss an opportunity to spend time together. We have several annual traditions like camping, “Brew and Stew,” “Friendsgiving,” New Years Day Brunch, and more. We’ve had book clubs, city league sports teams, and have started a community garden together. We see each other often and we have a weekly Sunday evening gathering that we have long deemed “family dinner.” We are proud to be a part of such a fun loving collective of friends, full of enduring characters.
Diana approached me with the idea of collaborating on a cookbook together. Food is always a part of our gatherings. We pull inspirations from all over to make dishes for our families and friends. Together Diana and I want to share those inspirations. We want to share recipes and anecdotes based on our community of friends, family, and food. We believe in showing love through sharing food. Whether it’s a dinner party, casual gathering, a gift for a loved one or taking a dish to a sick friend we want to provide you with some original ideas and recipes to love on your friends with.
Join us as we delve into and think about how food and community connect. We hope to include a wide variety of recipes from savory to sweet, including vegan and gluten free. While we are blogging we will be testing recipes and crafting a cookbook to call our own. We hope we will be inspirational and a useful guide to making and sharing food with love.
